Certified interpreters must undergo rigorous examinations, regularly participate in continuous education programs, and adhere to strict codes of conduct throughout every assignment.
- Certified court interpreters are required to have expertise in the specific terminology and regulations of the legal systems and procedures involved in court rooms and other government institutions.
- Certified medical interpreters are trained in the full spectrum of medical terminology and are familiar with medical regulations and legislation. Medical institutions hire certified medical interpreters to improve safety and ensure effective communication between healthcare providers and patients with limited English proficiency.
Understanding the Basics of Our Services
Translation
Translation is the conversion of the written language from one language to another (e.g. legal documents, contracts, marketing copy, etc). Translation services are usually charged based on the total number of words that have been translated.
Interpretation
Interpretation is the verbal conversion of language (e.g. face to face, court hearings, arbitrations, trade shows, conferences, legal depositions, client meeting, 3-way teleconferences or videoconferences, etc). Interpretation services are usually charged based upon the number of hours (or days) during which the interpreter is actively interpreting for the client. There are simultaneous and consecutive modes of interpretation.
Sight Translation
Sight translation is the conversion of written words in one language into spoken words in another language.
Transcription
Transcription is the conversion of spoken words in one language into written words in that language.
